Most of us are curious as a cat, and like to know and see every little detail. Hell we will even ask you the price you spent on something, not to be nosy, but neighborly:lol: We would like some more info from you, like a job interview. So lets start...
1. Where are you from and live
2. Where do you work, don't give an exact location but a general answer
3. Status, got wife kids, dogs etc.
4.PICTURES, lots of PICTURES
5.hobbies?? what do you collect? Coka Cola, license plates etc...
That's about all for a good start.

What do I think??
I think you will fit in just fine, the garage is nice, and good reuse of cabinets.

Welcome from me as well. You have a great looking garage and it looks quite big. The cabinets fit in and look awesome. I like the colors in the garage and the placement of the tall tool box and what I can see of the benches. I also like and can appreciate the floor covering on the floor. The car is a gem. I am pleased you posted here and we will look forward to more photos of the car and garage. It looks real interesting!!

Best Regards
Herb Spencer

Rick: also welcome to the forum. did you have any questions or just want to post up a picture and tell us a little about yourself?

if you can add a location like city or state or general area like the PNW like i did than at least when you ask a specific question that is area specific we can help you better.

nice job on the cabinets

Rick: your garage looks great in and out. i also like your old pickup that is at the ready to pick up more material or make a run to the dump.

you have pretty much maxed out the walls of your garage and only extra storage space i can see you might make is from the ceiling in the section without the garage door. that would be good for long wood, pipes and steel if you don't want to store it outside.

not sure why guys don't put their license plates on the internet, but since you blotted out the one in the picture of your GTO in the garage you might also want to blot it out and repost your picture of it showing on your GTO in the driveway.

did you put any extra support on your bench top for that big vise and care to share a few more pictures and details of it because it looks pretty big?

any plans for the garage in the future that you want to share?

I think the same thing about blocking the license plate on cars when posted online, I took the picture at 6am when headed to work. The flash caused the reflection in the plate, I do not have the skills needed to block anything on a picture. HAHA unless using a Sharpie!
You are right about being out of wall space and I do have storage built above the garage door as well. It is where the needed stuff you have is stored that you will never use. As for the vice mount there are 1x4's under the bench top. I do have plans to perhaps add a stainless top to this bench as well. I did this for my wife's potting table I built from old pallets and for a roll around bench in the garage.

Thanks for the comments! The GMC is a 1965 shortbed Fleetside with a 454 and a 4 speed. It is one of my weekend drivers even though it would be a nice daily driver. I am thinking of selling it so I can finish my 1965 Falcon and something has to go and I know it won't be the wife's GTO!

I like what you have done with the space and I would like more info on how you covered the tops with metal? Difficult? Special tools? Etc.?

Rick: i like outdoor builds almost as much as those with roofs and that is one of the nicest outdoor planting benches i think I've ever seen and i was a Realtor for 30 years so i saw a few more homes than most people.

that top on the rolling bench is also awesome so I agree if you can please let us know how you managed to do those stainless tops on those benches.

thanks

Covering the benches with stainless for these 2 tops was pretty simple. The roll around in the garage was something my Grandfather built in the 60's and it had a 1 1/2" thick wood top. I just had a sheet metal shop that I deal with for other manufacturing projects just bend up a top with a 2" drop on all sides. The tops just drops right over the wood and the lips hold it in place.
The potting table bench mounted behind the storage shed just has 2 x4's mounted to the shed and the pallet sides for support. I just used some standard construction adhesive to hold the top in place. The top has a bend down in the front and a bend up in the back for a back splash. So all in all a pretty straight forward easy thing to do if you have someone bend the stainless for you anyway.

Thanks for the comment on the potting bench I really liked how it came out as well, the pallets when stained give it a cool look.

Here is the next project to update some for the garage, this is a old cabinet that came out of a hospital that was closing. It has a cool retro look and I think is calling out to have some flames on it somewhere.

Rick: when you buy an old piece like that what exactly are your plans for restoring it because it looks pretty darn nice for a 60+ year old cabinet? i'm guessing you might change the countertop to stainless and change the handles and paint color? do tell.

When I see this hospital cabinet I see a true beauty waiting to be released. While I do like the originality of this piece I just think the color is wrong. I can see it in a dove grey with some red pin striping or bright red with a black or grey rally type of stripe down the face. Even black with some old school flames rising from the bottom upward, right now I am leaning towards red with a grey rally/ss stripe.
Any other ideas?

Rick: I've seen a few of those cabinets with stainless steel tops replacing the formica that is usually damaged, but yours looks like it's in pretty good shape.

thanks for PM ing with a price on your truck. it's a fantastic looking old truck and i bet it runs great too, but a pick up isn't quite what i need. I've got this little aluminum trailer and i think i'm just going to get a little bigger one since i upgraded my Honda CRV to a Honda Pilot a couple years ago.

any other cool finds to mention?
