what do you use on your rubber door seals

i was wondering what everyone in the snow belt uses on the rubber garage seal to keep it from freezing to the concrete in the winter? i go through seals every winter as they freeze and then tear. thanks

I never had the problem with the garage door, I have used Ace Hardware's siliocon spray on the weatherstripping of the car. Just soak it with the stuff and let it soak into the rubber. It makes it shed the water.

I imagine the 2 overhead doors on my garage have the original 1961 botton seals on them. I moved in 1n 1977 and know they haven't been replaced since then. I built my detached shop in 81 and put the ACE hardware brand on it with a wipe down of Armor-All silicone. No tares, no problems, all still in great shape except where a mouse started to chew at one. Do you have a low spot for water/ice to accumulate under the seal? There is a type of seal that you bond to the cement and door closes down on it. It sets about 2" proud, enough to keep the door bottom out of water. You drive right over it. A guy I knew bragged on how it solved his problem - I don't who makes/sells it but I'll bet a search could bring it up. Probably your local garage door installers can help you.

You may have the door closed too tight. It just needs to touch the floor not compress on to it.Can you raise the door about 1/2 to 3/4 inches ?

thanks for the replys-i am sure one of the doors sits to tight to the floor as it really compresses the seal but the opener that is installed when i moved in is a wayne-dalton I Drive. i contacted the company 6 times now - by mail-etc. and no reply. i had to garage door repair men in my area look at it and they have no idea how to adjust it and they claim they can't get any info on them. i may have to change that opener as i can't get any info on it so i may change it for a more common brand opener.

On my door opener you only have to move the stop switch, but mine is a econo gennie.
