What does this machine do?

I was asked what this is for. I told them I didn't know but I knew a group of people who most likely would know.

I don't know what that machine is for but finally some one that likes grease lighting over bunch of simple green nuts here.

They make wet tile saws so that's likely what that is. The rotary table may be an add on but in any case I want that part of it.

Maybe it is not for tile but rather for making grooves in marble or granite, to create a star or someting of the sort?

That looks like a surface grinder. In high school metal shop we had a bigger one. Teacher used it like a mill on lawn mower engine heads.
