Good question; it does say that it is a 3/8" drive torque wrench, however! Maybe they are referring to how much the drive part sticks out?

The height or thickness of the head is 1-1/4" plus the length of the square drive. That is the older bulky style of torque wrench that is more accurate, but less compact.
