What Else Do You Have?

So I went to look at this belt+disc sander for $50 :

I didn't see a 1HP version on the website, so if it ran, I'd get it.

I showed up, and everything checked out, so I went to my wallet, but only had $20's, nothing smaller. Dammit. The guy didn't have change, and didn't want to sell for $40, so I asked, "What else do you have?"

He said... for $10, I'll sell you this:

The grinding wheels are toast, the tool rests are long gone, but the glass shields are there (not shown in pic).

I handed him the $60, and drove away before he could change his mind.

no offense, but i believe a "you ****" is in order.

Nice, an early block grinder. You still have a complete tool rest on the left and half of one on the right. You also have the spark arresters, and most importantly the wheel guards and eye shields. Even if it needs new bearings or something, for $10 you still ****.

Thanks, I plugged in the grinder, and it seems to work fine. The thing takes forever to spin down!

I already have a cheap, smaller grinder... so I'll probably replace the grinding wheels on this one, and put wire/polishing wheels on the smaller one.
