What entry doors for a pole barn?

I saw another thread on entry doors but instead of hijacking it, I thought I'd start another.

It got me thinking about doors that are to be part of my kit order. I am not sure exactly what doors are part of the kit but I've asked so hopefully I will find out shortly. I do know it's labeled

Which sounds pretty simple and will probably work great. I chose the steel door simply for security concerns. I figure it's going to be harder to kick in and it won't be visible from the street so I'm not worried about the aesthetics of it.

Anyway, I'm curious about what others have done with their barns/shops/garages...

Mine was called out as "premium 3' x 6'8" metal frame metal door w/ 9-lite" on my order with Wick Buildings. I wanted some extra natural light. It's a 9-lite grid in between 2 high efficiency glass panes. Commercial grade, pre-assembled, good quality handset.

It was made by Plyco...very happy with the quality. Pretty sure its the Series 24.

That's a nice looking door. No issues with having just glass between the outside and the inside?

I also have 2 Anderson slider windows in the building. I'm going to have security film put on the door and windows to keep out some heat and discourage prying eyes a bit.

Ultimately I'm going to have an alarm on the building, and right now there is a dawn to dusk light right by this door so I'm comfortable with it all in all.

Alarm is of course a good idea. I might just forego the solid door to get some light as well. I actually have an alarm I was about to install before we moved. It never got installed and the new place already has one.

I opted for a 48" wide man door. It goes a long way to keeping the big door closed. It's been surprising to me how many have commented on the wide door and wished they had one that wide.

Well chalk one more up to the "I hadn't even considered that" group. It would be nice to be able to keep the "environment" inside where it belongs at times rather than opening up a 16 ft wide door.

4' wide x 3' high as I recall.....Hayfield was spec'd on proposal, builder subbed Anderson from local yard which I was fine with.

Thanks for the info. I'm now leaning towards just ordering the windows with the kit and being done with it. I've also changed back to the 9-light door. I'll just have to get the alarm installed quicker.

it's likely a commercial hollow metal door, no embossing , no insulation , just flat panel metal with hollow core . I say that because of the "commercial steel jamb"
