What era is this Craftsman 2 drawer box?

Does anyone know what era this Craftsman box is from?

I was looking at one like this at a pawn shop this evening. It was marked $24.99 and without me asking the manager said it was mine for $12 plus tax for the box and all the tools in it.

I haven't sorted through it yet, but I did see a Snap on socket and wobble extension and some Craftsman V 1/2 drive sockets.

60's/70's. It was called a "Rallye Box". I've seen it in various vintage catalogs. The date (month and year) should be stamped into the bottom floor of the box. Waterloo made those for Sears.

I think I remember seeing those back in the late 70's or early 80's. Everything had fake wood on it back then.

I think they were around for a while. I say earlier '70s because of the pot metal logo. That disappeared around 1977 when the advent of the riveted Sears|Craftsman logo on the rollaways/chests.

Not valuable. But well built for it's size. I have one I keep all duplicate/triplicate sockets in. I'd give 10 bux for one all day long. Maybe up to 20 if clean.

I still have one of those that I bought new in the early 70,s. I used it for a top box at Boeing for about 25 years until they made us take our tools home! I doesn't look as nice as that one.

Well worth the $12 with the tools inside. The SO and CM alone are worth the price of the box.
