I use forearm crutches and they are not made like they used to be. The ones you’re seeing in the photo are cheap Chinese product that the medical industry has farmed out are garbage...absolute.garbage.

The problem I have is the bolt and nut I’ve had to fix them tear and scratch and dent anything that comes into contact with it. What fasteners can I use that would solve the problem? Ideally, you would want something that would contour the pipe.IMG_0035.jpg

Those things that kang posted would work, and some Ace hardware stores have a few sizes. I found they have a bit of a shear problem, they were pivots on folding furniture. Cap nuts and connector bolts, or furniture RTA bolts, are often their name

Also there is a lighter product called a Chicago Bolt, a *** bolt, or a Binding post, that seem to be a little more available, and in different lengths, but not necessarily diameters.

Somewhere I've seen curved bolt heads, but not a good mating nut, for pipe type fittings. An Acorn seems better than nothing.

What size do you need? Dia x length?

I’m getting ready to purchase another pair so diameter is not necessarily a issue except probably 1/4”. Diameter of tube is about an 1”.

You could use an acorn nut. However, then you would want to use locktite so it doesn't loosen.

Yes will evaluate those. They will get damaged and get the same results. However that may take awhile and I would replace the nut.

The protrusion will still be an issue.

Yes. I’m going to get a pair and see how they do. Gotta remember loctite...

That style tubular nut is far superior not only because of the reduced protrusion, but also because the threads do not contact the pipe walls.

If you don't need adjustability, instead of a bolt/nut, couldn't you use 2 large 'Pop' (blind) rivets - they're available in various metals up to 1/4 inch.

(If you don't have this size of blind rivet and the necessary heavy duty rivet gun, you might try a truck bodyshop/ sign-fabrication shop, they'll likely have what you need, might even pop :)) ) some in for ya'....).
