Recently purchased a house that has a side entry garage that drops 2.5-3' in elevation from the garage door to say 40'- 50' out then levels off. This is a gravel driveway that one day I would like to have a concrete pad for two cars, but for now I just need to add material to bring this up so its not such a slope.
I can get fill dirt for 4 dollars a yard +delivery, crushed concrete for 8 dollars a yard +delivery, or asphalt millings for 8.75 a yard + delivery I haven't priced crushed limestone yet, but do have a quarry not too far. Can I add fill dirt in first to bring the grade up or is gravel, sand, or crushed concrete what I need? What would you do? Thanks for the help!

I am going to say stick with stone/gravel & the price would/should fall between your number for fill dirt and crushed concrete....because of the slope of your current drive I advise against fill dirt...because of the taper of the drive...you would eventually want a min. of 6-8" stone base on top anyway and knowing when/were to stop fill dirt presents problems. The two car pad area wants to be very stable and any introduction of fill dirt will make a mess of the relatively thin amount of base material that you need to add at the higher end of your drive.

No dirt, unless you are planting a garden.

Any angular (Not round, so not crushed concrete.) material with fines, compacted in 4" lifts.

Crushed limestone with fines is an excellent choice but will be more expensive. It's what I would use.
