You guys have any suggestions for great flap discs? I've used Dewalt and Diablo. Diablo sure puts the "blo" in their products. They didnt last me very long at all and I kept having to apply more and more pressure to get any results. The Dewalt seemed to last longer but I'd like to hear what lasts and performs well. At nearly 10 bucks a pop I should be getting more than an hour or two out of them dont you think? I'm just using them on steel sheet metal too.

Cool. Whats up with zirconia vs. ceramic? Which is better or is one suited for something and vice versa?

Austromex flap disks work for me. Not sure they're sold outside of Central America though.

For heavy duty work/aggressive grinding i would choose the "Lukas SLTT" disc:

Because of the patented sickle-shaped sandpaper the disc has 6 layers of abrasive material instead of the usual 2 or 3 layers.

...or another choice would be "Pferd Polifan strong":
similar construction and quality:

I like the construction of those. Looks hard to obtain in the US. A google search for Lucas SLTT brings up one result in English:

The rest in German. Me no speaka da Yerman, not that it would help in trying to obtain a foreign product.

edit: Pferd appears available from MSC, Zoro, Northern and more, incl eBay listings!

PFERD all the way. You have to search high and low, Ebay is the best.

I also like CGW? They make a lot of (decent) abrasives, but their flap disc are pretty good.

Also check the Dewalt made in Germany series, they are ok.
