I have been looking at different metal buildings and they are all so different yet the same. I am sure this is to hit a price point. I am all for finding efficiencies, but on where it is not critical.

What gauge is your building? Any issues?

Note: I live in central TX where mother nature likes to test her hail stones...
Would 26g be sufficient?

Looks like 26 gauge is standard for Meuller buildings and they are all over the hill country. I remember discussing this with my contractor before he built it and the big thing was wind resistance. We have been hit by hail and there are no visible dents.

When we had a metal roof put on the house our insurance rates were lowered but only contingent upon us signing an agreement that cosmetic damage was not covered.
