What gauge metal roofing ?

Working on a material list for a 26 x 30 building. Doing some comparison between
different options and was wondering what gauge metal is the most common on roofs.

Generally 26 gauge for roof; 29 gauge for walls. Local codes, snow, and wind loads may affect your build.

Honestly, I called up our local plant and told them what I was building and they selected the product. Seemed to make sense at the time.....

24 gauge is 3.84 a ft, 26 gauge is 2.99 a ft and 29 gauge is 2.08 a ft. I was looking at the cost difference between the metal and 3 tab shingles. Which ever I use would be on 5/8 plywood with trusses 2ft oc.

I wouldn't go less than 26 gauge on the roof.

Lots of pole barn builders down here will quote with 29 gauge, but it will bend if you look at it wrong.

From my own experience, 29 is great if you sheet the roof w/ osb or ply. 26 if no sheeting. A lot of builders in north Idaho use 29 with no sheeting and I have seen no problems.
