I didn't know they made a 42" ratchet. I'm gonna definitely look into it even though it has no chance of fitting in my toolbox at work where I'd need it.

I think what put a lot of people off round heads is that the dollar store type made in taiwan/china junk ratchets are usually of the round head type, guess they are easier or cheaper to manufacture?
Have owned (and broken) a fair few of those type, usually given to me from relatives etc as gifts, and could understand why it would put people off :lol_hitti

I have a quite a few good round heads myself, mostly 3/8, including a really nice New Britain produced Husky cm43, a 80's Hazet and last week finally got an older SK which his now one of my favorite ratchets, so well made, and feels indestructible.

Also recently got one of those odd SK produced Kraeuter ratchets with the weird handle design which has the same mech as the SK

Also have an older us made Husky 1/4 drive which is my favorite 1/4 drive and a interesting old push through 1/2 metabo from germany :D

Yeah the Wright long 3/4 is on my list of future buys, living in the rust belt I use my 3/4 and long handled 1/2 a lot. I also have an SK long handled 3/8 inch that sees more use then my fl80

Normally I'd agree. But where I work, they give us a really nice aluminum, tig welded, rolling toolbox that has our name, shop and badge number and its checked out on our tool list. They value it at like $500. It no where near big enough for that ratchet.

And that pry at is quite ****. That thing s going on the eventually list.

My SK 3/4" fine tooth ratchet came in a couple days ago. It may be an inch or two shorter than others but 19" is still enough to put a decent amount of torque on something. I might buy another ratchet from another brand, maybe some thing longer and with less teeth.
And here's a picture of the SK for shits and giggles.
I love tool ****:)

Also did not realize S-K made a 'long' 3/4 drive ratchet...

I used to look down on round head ratchets as obsolete until I found an SK 3/8 drive on the side of the road. I liked it so well I bought a new one, then a 1/2, then a couple of Williams and then a Wright. They may may be 1950s designs but they haven't been cheapened up and quality compromised over the years.

yep, like others ive been scared by round headers. everyone ive grabbed was junk, dont know the brand but ive just accompanied that designed with poor performance. plus i think the newer tear drop shape is more ergonomic.
