Where'd the EDIT button go on older posts? I'd like to be able to update Post #1 of the Best Light Fixture Ever thread occasionally.

This is a new development, lets hope it's a glitch that will be fixed.

I've been maintaining my barn build thread for years.. (updating the index sheet on page 1, etc.) and now the edit button is gone?

Problem with a perpetual edit button is a pissed off member can delete posts he made long ago rendering threads useless. Happened on another forum I was on.

^^I've never seen that happen here. Is this another solution looking for a problem?

How does a user replace their old Photobucket images that went "****" unless they can edit older posts??

This happened a couple times. Some revised their history when they were called out on something

I just wanted to fix a link error in a post I made last night, but couldn't this morning. Plus no one is going to search through 43 pages of lighting discussion to find the current budget fixture recommendation.

I noticed that as well. That was one of the things I REALLY like about this forum is the ability to edit your own posts indefinitely.

I hope that option comes back, I'll be really bummed if it doesn't.

Some other forums are temporarily lifting any edit timeframes/deadlines in hopes that users will replace their Photobucket images.

If GJ wants a hard stop for edits then at least give users a grace period to edit any old posts in hopes that some images can be replaced.

I'm so sick of all the invaluable images that went "****" all over the internet due to these morons at Photobucket. They'll never be fully replaced and it was a huge loss.

Every time an edit is made, there is a complete edit log that the moderators and admin can see. The problem is, sometimes pictures get lost if one were to go back and delete their posts. At any point in time admin can revert the deleted/edited.

The edit button can be put back very simply by going into admin CP in the V-B. Sometimes during updates to the forum "the button" has to be manually set again for a time duration.

If they wanted to delete their posts, they can do that with the delete message button which is separate from the edit button.

I think it's set at 60 days? I'm on my phone, but will check later.

Ive been able to edit my messages going back years

We had a user editing all of his post will political statements... all 698 of them... and so I've turned the editing time limit to 24 hours for the time being. Sorry.

Oh brother.

So two users as far as I can tell... one guy leans one way and another leans the other. They got into some weird war with post edits dating back years.

I think they are both lost.

What’s worse, I think one or both had multiple accounts that went unnoticed. So I’ve turned off editing for a while.
