What happened to Wolverine Coatings epoxy?

I joined this board back around 2008. Back then Wolverine coatings was the toast of the town.

The recession among other things has largely kept me away from finishing my garage so I haven't spent as much time on the site.

Looking at the flooring section lately, it seems to be all Epoxy Coat postings.

Any reason for this? pricepoint? or something else.

(not trolling, just curious)

thanks,
chris

I know for me it was an economy *****-slap.

But I remain curious about Wolverine- I remember calling him and having a very positive experience.

Probably used this site to help launch his product and moved on to sell to Companies or contractors that would give him constant work not constant calls and headaches like DIY'ers :p

:)

Still around, and still working with quite a few DIYer, in fact this has been our highest volume month ever!

We are working with more commercial projects, but even there we specialize in helping businesses that want to apply our coatings themselves.

Also we're seeing more repeat customers, quite a few of them. That plus some other projects have kept us from coming here as often as we used to, but in the next few weeks things ought to slow down and I hope to stop by more.

Finally there's only so large that we feel comfortable growing. As you can see by the amount of questions posted here there is quite a bit of consulting and hand holding involved with 2 component coatings. Wolverine has done a great job in formulating our products so they're relatively easy to apply with a good degree of fault tolerance, but we still spend a bit of time on the phone going over plans, questions, and details. I know a few (most) folks can get weary from dealing with customers new to a product, especially one like 2 component coatings, but I enjoy it! Honestly that surprised not only me but also my family and friends, because I'm not anywhere near the warm and cuddly type in person. To be honest it's not easy to farm out support to an outside company and still maintain that level of quality customer service. So we keep that in house, and we're not interested in building out a cubicle farm, and that limits our size.

We are thinking about running our first promotional sale ever here, just need to clear the desk top first.

Wolverine's also been super busy. Even though the market's been hammered, their sales are consistently increasing annually. They've moved almost all manufacturing into one facility and are looking for a much larger space to expand into.

Life is good!

I might have been one of the first DIYs for wolverine,
I've had my floor down since 2007/2008. Still looks great and wondering how long this floor will last; hopefully for some time yet. It really is a simple process and I think most issues are caused due to not following (basic) instruction. It's been years since I needed talked to Fred but wolverine customer service really is second to none. I'm unlikely to do this again but if I did I would certainly go the same route again.
