ok been lurking forever, but today I am sharing! so I finally got around to ordering my steel building aka carport building, was told several times it was minimum four weeks and up to 8. that was three days ago! got the call today to schedule for next week!!! what have I done!! I ordered it specifically giving me 3 weeks to do some ground work and move some dirt around the pad before having a building on site and in the way lool, so much for that plan. I told them I needed 2 weeks to finish the landscaping close to the building (the rest can be done later)
I am going with 22wx20 deep. I know I know, it should be 4ft deeper, but, I am going from a 13 ftx22 garage and its a small metal fab project shop not a place to park cars other than sometimes quads and motorcycles. I dont really need more space as it is, been doing ok with what I had but things being what they are I was told to get the noise and smoke etc away from the house so I made the argument to get more sq footage. I am going with a single rollup and a man door. 8 ft walls.
where I live there is no permits needed but to account for sq footage and taxation. those are done, have explained building to them and they said no problems. I did go with certified structure and the upgraded frame tubes to get the better warranty.
I am planning 100 amp service as I've been running the attached garage with 80 amps sort of... 60 amp service box and a 20 amp line that ran the lights and one outlet originally. I can rarely use more than 2 of anything at once, so should be more than adequate for my purposes as I haven't had issues with the lesser service in the current situation.
