I am in the process of building my 24x25 garage, ground work was done last week. Hopefully the bad will be done this week then around the beginning of October if all goes well the she’ll will be done. The plan is to do it my self after that. I would love to do an epoxy floor but I cannot afford to get the pros in to do it, so that’s where you come in what are the other options? What have you guys done? What products to avoid? Should I just save the money and leave it uncoated?

The intention of the shop is storage/works shop. I love my big boy toys, have a canam maverick trail, a four wheeler, two 850 skidoo snowmobiles. I enjoy working on them myself so they will be moved around the shop often.

I did a name brand DIY Epoxy floor from a big box store. Scrupulously followed the directions and the floor peeled. We had a pro come in and they did a nice looking job, but the floor did not stand up to welding slag and molten steel.

After having been yelled at for ruining the expensive floor she has decided to avoid setting foot in the workshop.

The hand surgeon who saved my fingers put it nicely. "the shop had become too pretty to work in"

I used armorpoxy, did it myself and it turned out great! First coat is a 2 part epoxy primer. Second coat is the 2 part epoxy color coat and you broadcast chips onto that (if so desired). Third coat is a 2 part epoxy clear coat with an anti-slip powder in it. I did this in 3 consecutive days....takes on the order of a half day per coat (32x28 garage). The clear coat I used was their upgrade military clear coat. I would definitely use their products again.

Floor paint is a marvelous thing when applied with even a vague amount of forethought and effort.
