Maybe we’re looking at tool manufacturing all wrong. What if Williams is doing a Toyota/Lexus play? Williams says to themselves “we build really nice tools and we want to make more on them. Nobody knows us and won’t pay super high prices for our stuff”, so they buy Snap On to use the name.

Maybe Gearwrench did the same with Matco?

Of course I jest but in the end it’s like the scene in The Jerk where Steve Martins character realizes it’s a profit thing.

I think Gearwrench sourced MATCO tools were an attempt to put a band aid on a sucking chest wound when the Armstrong factory closed. :wtf: I don't think MATCO sources anything from Gearwrench currently but, I could be wrong. :beer:
