What is a "#2 SIDA service" from poco (SDG&E)

Hello Folks,

My niece just purchased a 1970s-era home in San Diego. They are attempting to upgrade the existing 100-amp panel to a 200-amp service. The local power company (SDG&E) came out and evaluated their existing service and determined it to be "a #2 SIDA service, which is rare and found in older homes" (their words).

Can someone explain what they mean, and what are the implications (if any)?

That’s not a universal term so I agree with the above comment

My guess it’s # 2 aluminum.

Not sure but she can file the permit online. I did the exact same upgrade. Online permit was easy.
