What is a Dapping Punch for?

Hi guruz -

Anybody know what a "Dapping Punch" is used for? Is this used for "schwedging" (sp?) rivets, such as those used in 70s cars' vent window assemblies?

Just wondering....

I have no idea.....they kind look like something you would use for small round corners in metal...roll the metal

They are used in the jewelry industry.

They can also be used to make drilled or machined holes "smaller" by tapping the punch on the hole to push the edge metal into the hole...
