Densifier is a chemical that reacts with the line in the concrete to harden the concrete surfact to make polishing easier. It fills the tiny holes to allow the polishing pads to create a smooth surface. Otherwise the pads will catch on the edges of the pores, creating rough surface.
You dont want to epoxy afterwards.

If the densifier doesnt contain any water repelling additives you can grind it in preparation for epoxy and be fine. Make sure a water test is performed prior to make sure your primer will penetrate the densified concrete.
We have taken many thousands of square feet from polished concrete back to epoxy with great results.
As Shaun mentioned this is a treatment used commonly in the polishing process. However, many folks use it to combat dusting and effloresence in concrete slabs without polishing. It also helps to slow the degrading effects of mother nature for exterior slabs as well.
Once treated there are no visible signs of its presence. Therefore it is not even a distant cousin to epoxy. Apples and oranges.

If you add a powdered densifer, such as HWS oxide, it can be added to the top coat for strength (urethane tinted); which is what I'm using it for

KW, yes. It acts like a penetrating sealer, sealing from within.
Are there any primers that do what a Densifier does? I'm not looking to paint the concrete, but would like to seal it so it doesn't stain to bad. Same with spalling, like when a heavy weight is dropped or a rock run over by a jack. I understand there is a limit to what the surface can withstand.

I think you can probably get a sealer, I think there is a single part epoxy "Drylock" do one, but again it depends what you want and what your expecting.

I also wanted to mention, that there is a lot of good expereince here, which pays for itself !
Most people will just goto HD, get a can of paint and wack it on.
My own project has seen me being slighly over kill, but when your paint materials are running at just around $500 you wanna be as good as you can.
I'll leave a review on here that I cut from HD on one of there single epoxies;
most of the time its 90% preperation, and a and Suitable product
"I have a mobile home and I painted my driveway which is concrete. I first used the concrete bonding primer. After it dried, I applied two coats of the paint. I waited the recommended drying time before I walked and drove on it. It gets dirty very quickly. It bubbled up in spots. I scraped the bubbles and applied another coat. Then it bubbled again. This time I was going to just paint the bubbled sections. As I was cleaning the driveway most of the paint came up. I was thinking It was because I didn't apply the top coat. Then after reading the other reviews, I saw that I'm not the only one whom had problems with this paint. So it definitely would have been a waste of time to repaint it again with the Behr. I then used another product which is solvent based. But you can see the damage that had been done by the th Behr. I hope my experience and this review helps others. Thank you"

What you are looking for should have been discussed with the concrete company before the pour. This is beyond the scope of a densifier.

Here is a GJ Post from a gent, Mr. Disney. He actually spilled ****** fluid on the floor, post treatment and no stain was reported. Keep in mind this was HD40, a specialized densifier and he did high-speed burnish it post application.

So for a hobby garage with light traffic a densifier applied with help repel stains from car fluids and act as a sealer..........

The previous post features a densifier that aids in spill protection through the burnishing process and it's StainGuard chemistry. Our other densifiers (HD36, 37 and 39) will help but will not achieve the same results, especially with garage chemicals.
