Armstrong might be shipping again. Things might be clearing up.

So far I have not had a problem with the double detents.

Really ? I dunno, I think it's been better for at least a couple of weeks now.
Can't figure out why though.
I'm glad to see the tags gone. If people want to talk **** about others, they can have their screen name attached instead of the passive aggressive BS that was going on.

There were some people going overboard with it but most of it was just fun. I never got nasty with it, just tagged threads as trolls when it seemed that way to me.

Wow, what did he do to get banned? He was pretty over the top with the Craftsman love but none of that seemed ban worthy.

Does anyone know if HJE really does have the 10-994 in stock now? They showed some in stock a month or two ago so I ordered one but they emailed me to say they didn't really have any. So I cancelled.

I saw their in stock number go to 0 after that and now it shows 30 in stock. But I just don't trust their site.

I'm sure by Wed you'll have an answer.

You are aware of the plant closure in Tx, consolidation at the Sumter SC facility and flood correct?

Apex is owned by Bain Capital, a capital investment group and need to maintain revenue for it's clients - the investors like some of our retirement investments. That said I wouldn't doubt if Apex closes more US Plants and move more manufacturing to Asia. I know it's very sad but it's reality.

MATCO doesn't have a tool plant

However, the Armstrong factories that used to crank out US Made MATCO tools were closed down and now what little US production there is for MATCO hardline will come from a single plant in South Carolina that also produces other Apex lines.

I think you'll see a lot more Kabo made tools in MATCO's future.:dunno:

Their comfort grips are already imported, so no USA stamp on Matco comfort grip ratchets. They'll switch from overpriced Armstrong rebrands to overpriced Gearwrech rebrands in no time.

When and where did MATCO print that?

Do they still make quality screwdriver bits, or will we have to wait and see?

Old thread back from the dead.

Armstrong is no longer among the living tool brands, I thought.
I guess he never got the memo. I really liked their combo wrenches but I just work on my stuff at home and can't justify buying multiples of the same tool because they are so pretty. I'll just live with my old SK raised panels. I think the fit and finish of the Armstrong combos was the equal of anything out there.

When they went from Cooper Industries to Apex Group all the brands that were made in the USA were killed or sent to China. As this trend continues I much express much disappointment as Xcelite was one of my favorites. My list is now reduced to Klein,Channelock,Ideal, and Snap on.
