What Is It? Clamp? Tool Stop?

I've had this thing lying around for many years, never knew what it was for. Looks like a stop or indicator pointer that clamps on a dovetail shaped bar. Hardwood with brass threaded rod, knurled brass knob. Looks like it might have had a nameplate where the 4 holes are on the back.

Threading stop for a lathe. Mounts on the cross slide ways and allows you to bump the cross slide against it at zero instead if trying to dial back to the correct zero when threading.

I have a later version just like that made out of aluminum. I think there are some pieces missing and they come in pairs. It is half of a set of trammel points for laying out circles. You supply your own stick with similar bevels on both sides. It looks like there is a scribing point that is installed upside down.
