first post. after intro of course....

scored a mystery bucket with handful of things in it. thing one is a tool i'm not sure what it is?

plier style handle pivots a rod up to mash against the round thing. the round thing can get rotated with the knurled knob at the end. there is an adjuster screw with a set nut to hold something or to set a certain distance?

the shape of the head is very peculiar.

on the back of the tool, it's tough to read, but maybe says: LA SAVIC & CO, NEWARK, NJ. the part hard to read is sort of: LA S*^% & CO, NEWARK NJ.

thing 2...

looks like it mounts to something. top thing slides down, meets with bottom thing which also slides down with spring pressure.

either sets grommets or buttons...do you have a better pic of the dies?

i don't have anymore dies. just what you see on the top, and the pic above is pretty good representation.

the bottom cylinder i think probably has some missing tooling. it's just an empty cylinder, seems like it should have something there.

It's a rivet setter. Hollow rivet goes into the open tube in the bottom, leather belt, harness strap, whatever, goes between the dies. You push the handle down, the spring loaded tube retracts until the rivet bottoms out, then the hollow rivet punches its own hole, comes out the top of the strap and gets expanded/headed over by the point on the top die. Works faster than I typed this.
