what is it

I found this tool or part of some type of equipment among some old garage/shop stuff I acquired. Can somebody maybe identify what it is (or might be) for me?

Looks like a slide hammer puller missing the sliding hammer.

If the yellow handle moves up and down the shaft it's a slide hammer.

Agreed. That yellow handle would be the hammer, sorry.

Okay, most likely a slide hammer then. The yellow handle doesn't slide on the rod/shaft though. The rod/shaft is threaded into the yellow handle. So apparently or maybe obviously a part of this slide hammer is missing? I'm not too savvy/experienced using a slide hammer.

Okay I Googled images of slide hammers. Some of them get pretty close to looking like what I have, with additional pieces. If I'm lucky I might come across the missing part(s) to make it useful again. thanks

The rod looks too short for a slide hammer.
