I think it is repurposed. Smith’s Washita produces whetstones. I think it’s from a whetstone like the one on the right.

You think someone made it from a whetstone box? I know that Smiths sold whetstones so that could be. The finish / stain is the same on both sides and the edges.

I'm going to venture a guess that it's not been repurposed, just going by the finish and the brand, and that it's their version of this ...
