What is mounted on my tool box?

Hi all- Can anyone identify what this bracket is for that’s mounted on my old snap on box? I assume it should have jars or something that fit in it? They’re too small for a wd40 can or similar

I would have guessed for spray cans but image search turned up a few items that suggest it may be for holding stack adapters for a lift. Not sure why it's only three would have expected an even number...

That was one of the first tools I bought from Snap-On back in the early/mid '70's. 3-piece oiler set and bracket.
