what is the best screwdriver tip for receptacles?

I don't like flat blades and none of my phillips bits seem to work well. The screws on the outlets look like it may also accept some sort of torn bit or something.

My best tip is to not stick the screw driver into the outlet box before making sure the power if off.

Square works better than Philips but still cams out. Milwaukee ECX is the best. It has a square center that keeps the bit centered, and wings the fit the slots so it doesn't can out. It comes in two sizes.

I use a Philips head until it wears down,but before I buy a new one I tighten it after with a flat.

Milwaukee ECX is in most of the bit sets that Milwaukee sells at HD. They work great on screws on just about any electrical. Two sizes as the earlier poster said and those two will fit just about any screw you run into. Phillips, square, robertson do not fit as well as the ECX bits. HD also had a multibit Milwaukee screwdriver that has those as one of the choices.

Like stated, #1 square/Robertson is the best fit, but I use a phillips for convenience. If you keep the tip new you'll be fine.

I use this. But, a brand new Klein Phillips works well too. For some reason Klein phillips fits electrical screws better than the German phillips: Wiha, Wera, Witte. The key is a non- buggered Klein, which means you have to make sure you treat it well as it is not very durable. The square drive by itself #1 is way too weak for a good torque on receptacles. These receptacle screws are of the cheapest possible quality (kind of like the Klein Phillips driver) and will cam out on anything less than a perfect phillips bit.

The Wiha tool pretty much acts like a flat blade screwdriver as far as engagement goes, the center phillips just keeps it in place. If I didn't have the Wiha tool, I would just use a flat blade.

#1 Robertson screw driver, that's a green handle square, may be hard to find for you South of the boarder as I find you guys have a Love for the ****** flat blade, that I feel should be banned from importing into Canada , and my opinion for the Phillips is not much higher but it is an improvement atleast.

ya ya I know its mostly a royalty thing, copyrights and the rest of the ****, and partially tradition I think. sorry but I have a hatred for those ****** hand slicing flat blades.

Square drive screws and tools are EVERYWHERE around here.
And I agree. Flat blade only screws should be banned.

Nope. Never seen a pozie/slotted.
Some are square-x/slotted. Those work with ECX or the Wera. Some are Philips/slotted (don't work with a square drive) and would only work with the Wera, but I haven't seen that style in years.

I've got a set of Wera square drive screwdrivers. Honestly, made in Canada Fuller Pro Robertson's available here at Home Depot are just as good, and I actually like fluted handles better for greater comfort when applying strong torque.
