Hey Fellas
I tried to do a search but it didn't work. I need to find me a good garage work light for working on my car. I'm so tired buying of the cheap plastic Craftsmen they don't last any time at all. I need durable one that will last and one that won't burn the piss out of me every time I touch it. What do you guys recomend?
Thanks guys

Costco has been selling an LED worklight that is snapon licensed. Its very bright, does not get very hot, and is small. I prefer it over my halogen lights unless it is cold outside.

For a drop light I just put an LED bulb into a cheap drop light. The LED bulbs don't get hot and they don't stop working the first time they get dropped. I think I have this one: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-75...-HD-408PDQ/204222074?keyword=husky+drop+light and it has worked for me for several years.

Good thread..

In my opinion balancing cost vs utility is what makes them the best. In that case, anything semi free (like this Stubby 2 that was recovered from the scrap bin and $28 (with shipping) worth of parts; and its back in service) usually tops my list...

PS: I see the Stubby lights in many places including in use in our factories at CMI.

A good friend of mine is shop foreman for an auto dealership. His mechanics use the led lights you ******** your head. I use 1when I have to do attic work.

I've been buying these from a tool gypsy here.

It's bright enough to temporarily blind you if you look at it, and if it's in a tight enough work area (under the dash for example) I have to turn it somewhat away from the work or it's too bright.

It's somewhat long, but is small enough diameter to get it almost anywhere.

No I don't work for them. ;)
