Ok, you all have never let me down, and I hope you’re not getting tired of my questions. Found what looks like a punch/nail set, marked, “BF Goodrich Silvertown.” I’m assuming it’s some type of tire tool. Or if it’s a punch/nail set, why the large head? Thanks for solving another mystery for me!

Turns out Silvertown was a model of tire from Depression on to the 50s, give or take. Lots of advertising ashtrays etc, so I would guess it could be anything.

If the tip looks like a nail set, I’d go with that. Never seen one with a head that size, but what do I know.

The knurling on the stem. Could it have been used to ream a hole in a tire for a plug. Possibly a tubed tire didn’t need anything fancy just a fill so stones could not find their way into the inside of the tire.

Thank you so much! I see a lot of tools and really love a mystery. My first thought was that this is a tool to drive the nail or wire through the tire in order to plug it. The knurling isn’t coarse enough to be a tool for plugging. (I’ve seen plenty of those.) Maybe this is a question for an old-school tire/garage guy! Thanks again!

How about something used on the rim rather than the tire? Something like a reaming tool to help seat or a punch to knock out a valve stem or something like that?
