Any idea what this type of concrete finish/texture is called?

I like the look and am considering it for the driveways/flatwork at our new house.

These are the walkways around an office building in Houston and the pictures were taken in 2007. The building is near my existing office, I need to stop by and see how it is holding up.

Thanks,
Anthony

It looks like a form of 'exposed aggregate' finish. A set inhibitor, also called a retarder is sprayed on the surface, which allows you to spray off the cement paste after the underlying concrete has set enough to keep the stone from being dislodged. You can sprinkle extra stone of any color you like onto the concrete and float it in to get different effects.

I think it's a salt finish. You press course salt into the concrete and once the concrete sets you wash out the salt pieces.

Salt makes sense.

Around here it would be "lasts a year". The snow would melt into all those holes, re-freeze and blow the concrete apart in the first winter.

As an aside I have some stamped concrete that has a bit more texture than what you show. I find that every depression is a small collector of mud and it requires constant cleaning. Just something to be aware of.
