Found this today at the used tool store, I have no clue what it is. It looks like a small screwdriver tap, but what would you use it for? It is stamped CRAFTSMAN POLY-TAP KROMEDGE

sorry for the crummy pics, all I had was my phone

It is meant for electricians. Chasing, and making common size small threads.

Edit,

A Klein one.

Chasing or tapping. I have "staged" taps like that for the same purpose. That is a whole lot handier though than a tap. I'd buy one if I found it.

Agreed, aimed mostly at electricians as it will have the three most common threads used for boxes, conduit fittings, and related wiring hardware.

Its a neat little store, theres a lot of cheap junk but I have also bought quite a bit of used snap-on and matco for 50-70% off retail. I think I'll pick up that little tapping tool today

I have it in my AC tool bag, they are correct it's for electricians. We sometimes need to tap or chase threads where the center screw goes in outlets and the mounting screws, J-box's ect. Handy to have in bag.
