So slowly rebuilding my air compressor. The next thing up is a pressure check. To do that I needed to remove this fitting and temp replace it with a gauge. Pulled this out and don’t know what it is for. Any ideas? Should I keep it or can I put new stuff on?

Thanks,

Mike

It looks like the output tube for air. With a shut off valve. And the pressure switch that starts and stops the motor. Also looks like there is an unloader there too

Put it back together, I would suggest that you take a pressure reading where the air outlet to the shop is.
Life in the shop goes better when you keep your workspace in order. I like to have a shop cart close by.

OK, three things:

1) What does an unloader do-for my edumication?
2) There is just a brass plug (1/4") on the bottom of the tank. I planned on installing a pull release valve in its place.
3) Is the unloader valve/dip tube rebuildable or do they make new things to put in its place?

I wonder if the hand valve is designed to pull the water out of the tank? I though it was for letting off some pressure manually, maybe dual purpose?

#1 an unloader bleeds off air pressure on the compressor so it starts without being against pressure
#2 usually drain valves are on the bottom of the tank
#3 it can probably be made from off the shelf parts, and probably the hand valve will purge water from the tank when opened

I do agree on the drain tube , I did a similar thing on a pancake compressor , thread here

Thank you for the info. That makes more sense now-the tube is for pulling water out of the tank. I bought a 41 catalogue of Wayne compressors and your descriptions and the picture now make more sense. The valve is pumping out water-I thought it was a piece of pipe coming out like the valve has now. It also explains where the regulator goes to shut off the compressor-not where it is when I got it.

Thank you all

Dip tube for draining water?

Hard to tell, I try to zoom it and it keeps changing to a random photo of a like 5 level Radio Flyer wagon or something.
