My buddy picked this up at an auction, it looks real similar to some type of collet closer like whats on my Hardinge lathe but bigger.

It says 5C SFF Disc Clutch

that was my first thought. Kinda looked like a clutch brake, especially with the grease fittings. Is the inside of it splined?
