I bought this, and I have no idea what it's for.
Why would I have bought it?

Do you not own power tools? I don't even know how someone who owned power tools wouldn't know what that was.

Yes, I had it stored next to my screwdriver bits in my 1/4" tray.
Is it used with the bti driver screwdriver handle?

It's just an extension? Not an adapter?

Power (tool) hex bit adapter.

The cut out makes the shank have some flex so the power tool doesnt shatter the brittle hex bits. thats the theory anyway. They come with bit sets as an accessory, but not everyone uses a power tool.

Also, they make power bits with the extra length and cut out that go into a different type of chuck (QR type) that makes this tool not needed.

Oh, so I stick the black end into a drill, and put those bits into the other end?
I bought it so I could use my drill for screwdriver bits, maybe?

Sorry for the dumbest thread on GJ of the year.

No, I actually ordered it online, for some reason.

I have not used a coupon at HF in many years,
and HF doesn't give away stuff like this.

Pull the blade out of an old screwdriver, insert the above adaptor and you have yourself a custom made stubby.

Keep that for use with power tools, as then you can get by with buying packs of the smaller (cheaper) impact bits. Buying one extension up front makes much more sense to be than buying longer consumable impact bits over time.

Hi All,

I spoke to my source at Apex Tools and he related the following,

"It looks like a Magnetic Bit Holder for 1/4" Hex Insert Bits, used for 1 of 2 reasons: to magnetize the insert bit, or to save money by replacing a small insert bit as opposed to replacing a longer, more expensive Power Bit."

I hope this answers your question.

If anyone has any questions regarding Apex Tools please let me know and I can contact their Engineering Department.
