really? that guy wants 1k for a rusty snap on box that looks to be about 20 some years old? I know people go nuts for snap on like women at a Coach purse sale, but damn, 1g for that is a little insane.

i think thats just a way to have control over the auction........you make an offer and he gets to say yes or no. i don't know why he wouldn't just set a reserve.

My thought is thats worth maybe 1/2 of what he's asking.. its a solid old box.. but a bit beat. In todays climate I doubt he'll get more than $300.

First of all, that is in POOR condition. Hopefully the one you want to buy locally is better.

I have sold a few of this type S-O box in the last year, and I would say $300-500 depending on condition, but most people take better care of S-O stuff. I would not personally want a box that rough, and I would not want the effort of painting a box either.

I didn't think the one on ebay looked that bad...of course the price that guy was asking was ridiculous.

Repainting a box really isn't that big of a deal...as long as there aren't dents in it, the hardware is in okay shape, everything is operational and you don't have to do metal work on it.

You should see the snap on box I have waiting to be redone...lot worse than that one! :lol_hitti

Look at the offer history for the box in the first link on e-bay. They date all the way back to 2006. Maybe he should get the hint.

I think either way you have to pay more money to eBay in order to list it. The surest way to get interest from the market is starting it low, but that doesn't guarantee that you'll get how much you want.
