Hi GJ,

What is this screwdriver for?

I have never seen a screwdriver like this. I thought maybe the tip is for countersinking a wood hole or maybe making threads in wood? I was a garage sale, it was 1 dollar and said USA, so I figured I would use it for countersinking holes in wood.

Not really a screw driver. You use it to start wood screws or similar by tapping a threaded hole.

That's what I was thinking--a gimlet, but the angle of the threaded portion looks too oblique.

I've got a Craftsman one like it and never thought to see if the ridges were a thread! I just push and poke a small hole and then get to screwin'!
