I saw a snap on box almost exactly like this(same era logo plate) for sale locally and seem to remember it was actually rather clean but definitely not perfect; all drawers worked fine and it was in "used restorable" condition, not a museum piece.

Ignore the ebay price please. I want to know what the one on ebay is worth in your opinion.
What if it looked a little nicer?

What is a fair price?
Great price?
A steal?(don't say free)

Thank you all.

I am maxxed out of room and really don't want it...:lol_hitti

FWIW the guy's asking $65(assuming he still has it...)
I reallyyyyyyy don't want to give more then $40.....So I'll give it a good look over and see what happens. But I've dealt with him before and chopping 30-40% off the price is rather unlikely of him.

$50-$100 all day long on the snap on truck. The guy needs some aspirin because he bumped his head, HARD.

The 53 is a nice little toolbox. That is an early one too,, so if you can get it cheap I say go for it.

This particular era of Snap-On boxes turn up regularly here where I roam. I paid 75 bucks for one that looks like it was used for a year and then stored unused for 70 more.

If you really want one, 50 bucks is as deep as I would go. Even though the one in the Ebay auction is an early one, they turn up so frequently I don't see how that adds value.

Well if he still has it I'll find out today what he thinks it's worth. It sounds like offloading this on CL for double my cost isn't really gonna happen--which is how I justify buying things I genuinely don't need. It also sounds like these from this era are far from rare, which makes me want it less.

I always envisioned myself giving away tools and stuff to people I know who don't have this kinda stuff, but I've only further underscored the fact that I basically know nobody who values or uses good tools.

I'll probably pass on it.
