What is this SO box topper?

Briefly went through the regular and industrial catalogs. What is this stainless top, and is the secondary locking system/gold latch oem?

Stainless overlay is just a style accent. The gold T-handle looking lock I’ve seen on boxes that saw permanent display duty in the Snap-on rock n roll cab express. I assume it allows demonstration of the locking system without the driver needing to keep up with all the keys.

If I had a service truck or van where I needed to secure the drawers without needing to lock it, that T handle would be (pardon the pun) golden...

Working the right shop that top would be child's play to make. Even custom ordering it from a waterjet shop would not be that expensive.

I think coming off the display truck is a great guess.

Would explain the lock and perhaps the SS top
