With the hole pattern on it I would say a table for a vibratory bowl with a linear feeder.

If you have a use for it that's great, but at 24" high it may only be good for use as a really strong coffee table.

Not for surface plates.
Granite stands are typically open, the granite usually has three point suspension made up of rubber blocks.
Its a machine base, generic base used for assembly fixtures or on assembly lines, modified to suit your needs.
The tops are usually ground and make an excellent welding table, tap a grid of holes for hold downs and you are good to go.
Price is good, you could not buy the materials for $50.

I dropped over a grand on 5 Wilton vises, a baldor buffer, a BIG Dayton grinder and 2 baldor stands. After 31 years my wife is ready to leave me. Even at 50 bucks its a pain to load and then what?

Here you go buckgnarly...im selling the baldor bases and the 3/4 hp Dayton grinder. I'll never sell the buffer. Oh and I picked up a Kalamazoo, Baldor powered, 2" sander from the same guy for $50.00

It is located in Agawam, MA. And no it ain't on Craigslist.
The seller also has a gorgeous 4" Starret vise with swivel top , small hand press and pipe vise all beautifully welded to a 4x4 piece of 1/4 inch plate steel. He wanted 200 for that, which is way too much. Oh yeah, and a baldor 3" vertical sander, but he wanted crazy $$ for that.

Short tables like that are commonly used for assembly in a furniture maker's wood shop. It is much easier to work on a small table or chair if it is slightly raised off the ground, rather than 40" off the ground (regular bench height). The one you have pictured is probably not a furniture maker's assembly table because it is so heavy duty, but it would work just fine in that application.
