What is this thing called?

The round flat thing with inner "teeth" at the bottom of the picture. It works like a snap ring or E-clip, except it doesn't require a groove. That thing in the upper right-hand side of the picture fits into a square hole in a panel, and then that ring is pushed onto the cylinder part to keep it tightly mounted. The "teeth" grip tightly against the cylinder, and once it's on there it doesn't come off easily.

That would describe the first item, but the square hole in a panel won't be easy to guess until the OP learns how to post an image.

I posted an image (see above for a screenshot of my original post). If this forum software is screwed up and isn't displaying the image to anyone else, that has nothing to do with me. I used standard BBCode (IMG tags, and an external direct link to the image on imgur.com), and I can see the picture embedded in my post just fine.

Why not? It's one of the, if not the, most commonly used image hosting sites on the internet. It works on every forum I've ever used. And why does the image show up for me?

In any case, I attached the screenshot in my second post, plus I embedded it as well, so that should show up for everyone.

Imgur does not allow images hosted by their servers to be displayed on sites of a commercial nature. I believe that since this forum has a classifieds section, Imgur has banned us.

If you right-click the image you posted, copy the image URL to your clipboard, and fetch the image directly in a browser, it comes up.

Maxim-- try postimg.org it works very well and is simplistic and free for image hosting and it works in here for everyone

Imgur does not allow images hosted by their servers to be displayed on sites of a commercial nature. I believe that since this forum has a classifieds section, Imgur has banned us.

That's bizarre. Imgur works on literally every other forum I use, and many of them have a classifieds section. AR15.com has a huge classified section, for example, and that's just one of many. I've been using Imgur for everything since ImageShack went down the drain a few years ago.

On this forum I'll just attach images; that seems to work.

Postimg.org seems to work faster than imgur. You should really try it.

Yeah, that's the same function, though a slightly different design. If I could find one of those in the right size it would work perfectly though.

Google " flat push nut". We always called them speed nuts in a factory i worked at so terminologies vary.

Shaft retainer, the same application as an E-clip or snap ring, but it doesn't require a groove in the shaft.
