I just purchase another house and I've been doing some work trying to get the garage together and I noticed this thing up high on the wall. It appears to be phone related or maybe not. I'm sure there is somebody here who can help me out. My other house did not have this thing as it was built in 1985. Just trying to learn. Thanks in advance for the help and sorry about the bad pic. Its an old iphone.

Furnace control circuit transformers are almost always located within the furnace!!

Almost Always? Like Almost Pregnant? Hey, lucky guy could have had a furnace in his garage.

But to your point, I haven't seen one that wasn't at least in the furnace room. I HAVE seen 200 feet of bell wire to get the doorbell to share the furnace transformer and even seen one tripple tapped with furnace, doorbell and sprinkler controller!

Perhaps we need a scary electrical picture thread on GJ (if there isn't one already)!

No, because people would just start posting up pics they found on the internet from "homeinspectordotcom" (made that one up) and anywhere else, rather than post pics of stuff they actually experienced themselves. And I've already seen most of those stupid overstuffed boxes and all the other odd stuff found on the home inspector sites.

Member Sakurama did post in his home/garage renovation thread that he found this extension cord end hanging out of a box. Quality work there!
