To find everything typed to have vanished. Annoying and surely a webmaster(bater) setting issue. Why is it that all tool and automotive sites are always fupped ?
SK, Snap.MAC, Proto,Welding webs latest disasters and data crashes.
It'l like the web team arrives on the short bus.......without their meds

First day on a forum? This problem has been around since the dawn of forums 20 years ago. Pro tip: don't write a big post without CTRL C the text first ;-)

Do you have various browser add ins, protecting your web experience? Personally I have Firefox clean up and delete history, cookies, etc. Plus I run Ghostery, ABP and Disconnect, too.

This happens to me.

When you log in, check the checkbox, "remember me", every time. Yes, it will get unchecked the next time you log in, but during this session your login will be preserved.

Sounds like a personal problem to me. In 10k posts here I've only lost a token a couple of times years ago..

Only time I've seen it happen was when I forgot to tick the 'remember me' when logging in and I took too long reading and/or writing a post.

It happens to me when I get distracted while posting. It’s a timing issue, I believe, which is what tokens are based on.

If you tick the 'Remember Me' when logging in you shouldn't get logged out. But not ticking 'Remember Me' will automatically log you out after a period of inactivity (your token will expire) which can be frustrating if you were just spending a long time reading or writing a post, especially the latter because everything you thought you were going to post will likely be lost. lol

I'm not gonna start a new thread about this. But I did just lose a few paragraphs.

It would be nice if this were able to get time-extended to 48hrs. :)

I'm more than familiar with copy paste.

But in some browser scenarios, going back to the previous page would have that page, unchanged, with the typed text. Instead, it seems to load all new posts and lose the text. Browser settings? Or is there something site-side that could help?

If you click "Remember Me" you should be ok when you sign in.

Another thing you could do is, write what you want using a word processor and then do a copy and paste. That way you can type a long post and not have to worry about being logged out.
