This came with my Atlas lathe I bought 7 or 8 years ago, I'm parting it out and came across it while going through stuff. Obviously it's for drilling holes in wood but what is it meant to attach to and what is it called?

I believe they are generally called mortising drills or adpters. The most common use is to cut the Mortis for a mortis and tenion joint.

I still don't see how it works, I mean if obviously does but I don't get how. LOL yeah, I was that kid, always had to know why or how not just it does.

the chisel drills are for wood. They drill a hole and the chisel makes it square.

The clips Im posting are for steel, the crank of it turns kinda oblong similar to the way a rotary engine moves
