a spreader of some sort? caliper?

It is very thin, aluminum like. So if it was for some sort of caliper it would have to be very light duty. The grip you need to squeeze the spring is minimal. Additionally there are grooves in each of the plastic pieces. I know I have seen it in some catalog, but I can't remember where!

It looks to me like some sort of spreader as well. Maybe just to squeeze something apart. It could have multiple uses, like an all around handy tool.

I am pretty sure it is a spreader, but for what I have no idea. Here is a picture of the backside. Absolutely no markings on it at all. No numbers or names. Color on handles makes me think KD Tools.

You know what really cleans the grease off those plastic handles is some bug and tar remover. I use the Turtle Wax spray on one.

After seeing those grooves in the plastic pieces, I'd have to agree with the others that it's a tubing bender. Try putting a piece of brake line into it and see if it'll bend it.

It's a TUBING BENDER.
Used for bending thin wall tube for instrumentation.
Have one in my tool box from when I was an instrument tech.
Suggest you DON'T try bending brake line; or IT will bend!

Its an old arrow straightner made by the Saunders company for archery shops. They didnt go over too well since most requatable shops precarbon had nice straightners with micrometers on them.
