This came with a lot at an auction. Anyone know what it is for? I suspect the owner didn't want to lose it since he painted it fluorescent orange. Thanks for any info.

Doesn't look like a tool per se but part of a tool perhaps? A locking handle of some sort along four.cycle's guess or part of a jack? The orange paint looks OEM to me.

Barrel handling tool, it is used to stand barrels on end and to remove the threaded steel bungs.

I was going to say it looks like a homemade "2x" bar that could be used to persuade 2x4s,2x6s, etc. in all sorts of ways during framing, decking, demo, etc.

Barrel handling tool makes sense though.

Thanks for the replies! Barrel handling tool makes sense...the family that the estate belonged to owned a local oil company.
