Marked selsi no 1, 1/5. Came in a box of machinist tools. Selsi makes a lot of optics and binoculars. Can't find any info on what it is. When the end with the brass gauge is moved, the opposite end opens. Any ideas?

some crafty googling reveals it's a degree gauge. meant for measuring gem stones and lenses (most likely lenses, given the make).

Like said a thickness gauge or caliper. To check what the scale reads clamp it on a known thickness, like a 10mm or 13mm nut. Does the scale indicate it is 10 or 13? If not then try something fractional.
