I have a tool made by the Globe Metal Mfg. Co. Phila. and is says on it UNBREAKABLE. I'm guessing it is some sort of hand spreader but I really don't have a clue. It's 7" long and about the size of a pair of pliers. It has a spring to keep it in the closed position. What is the name of this tool? Any value?

I agree Joey1320. Would have never thought it. Didn't even know there was a tool for light chains. Paid $2 at an estate sale. And thanks for the help Keister and everyone!!

Yours is a malleable iron one. You don't often find them still with the spring. Electricians sometimes ground an extra set of notches in the jaws to handle larger chains.

I don't believe any are still made in the USA. All the new ones I have seen are chrome plated Chinesium.
