The triangular piece of steel you see at the top can be rotated to an arbitrary position. And the knurled nut on the bottom can be turned to adjust the height. I could swear that I've seen one of these before somewhere, but am scratching my head. Does anybody here know what it us used for?

Does the opposite side, left in fourth pic, have dovetails to fit into something? I could see a travel stop on a saw or other cutter more so than a vertical usage.

Nope, no dovetails anywhere.
argh

Now that its daylight and I am more awake, it is obvious that the bottom is V shaped, not a dovetail.

So it appears that it slides into a Serif shaped V trough, where the clamp might grab onto the serifs to hold it in location?

I don't know why, but it just screams to me that it is off some sheet metal tool. Perhaps a guide for a bead roller?

The more I look at the pictures, the less I feel like I know what it looks like lol

It’s odd that the triangle part index is like a pointer but it’s so thick, and then the clamp doesn’t really seem to fit.
