Picked it up in an auction, nobody bid on it, I couldn't not buy it. I have no idea what it is . It measures out in metric 10mm x 30mm x 1 meter to the end of each turned end "knob". Knurled brass ends slip off- for protection?. No maker mark anywhere besides a nicely engraved No. 44. Really well machined, has the quality of a Starrett, but no maker mark. Beautiful wood case Mahogany? with elaborate brass catches.
